Kathleen Wilkinson

July 15, 1951 - April 28, 2021

Tribute

It is with great sadness that the family of Kathleen Elizabeth Wilkinson announce her passing on April 28, 2021 at her home surrounded by family.

Kathy was born in Edmonton, Alberta on July 15, 1951 to the late Clifford and Nora Wilkinson.  Her family moved to Victoria, BC when she was a little girl.

After graduation Kathy began a 30 year career with the Federal Government before retiring in Crofton, BC to enjoy her passion for gardening, knitting, reading and her beloved doll collection. It was not uncommon for Kathy to be the last one in the door when coming to visit, you would find her in your garden pulling a weed or two and adding her touch.

Kathy will be lovingly remembered by her spouse of 21 years, Peter Thorpe, her sons, Chris Sheppard (Robin), Mike Sheppard, Jason Sheppard (Dawn), her grandchildren, Brianna, Mackenzie, Keanna, Brayden, Isabelle, Rebecca, Brittany, Justin.

She will also be fondly remembered by Peter’s children and grandchildren, Stephen Thorpe, Wanda  Maassen, Devin, Brandon and Angela.

Kathy is survived by her sister, Carol Robinson ( Keith) and her brother Gerry Keeler as well as her nieces and nephews.

Kathy’s family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. D. Welch, Dr. J. Eberhard, Dr. V. Masuda, and the staff at Cowichan Hospice and Island Health for their care and compassion.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to S.A.I.N.T.S (Senior Animals in Need Today Society) or a charity of your choice.

So sorry to hear of Kathy’s passing. My condolences to her entire family. We worked together at WHI for close to 20 years. I always appreciated her quiet supportive manner…and dry sense of humour…always right on point!

Good people are remembered as a blessing to their family and friends. Simply observed Cathy was simply a good person taken from us to soon. My sincere condolences to Peter and family in their loss.

From: Sylvia Hosie
Relation: Kathy was a very good friend.

My heart hurts to hear of the passing of my sweet, gentle friend, Kathy. Being doll collectors brought us together in friendship & when we travelled to Seattle, Vancouver or up island or to a doll event, we were often roommates and that is when I discovered Kathy’s dry sense of humor & how delightful it was to be her friend – oh, the laughter. Her soul was pure, her spirit was kind, and her heart was genuine. She was the best of the best. I will miss her so much. Sending my deepest sorrow to her family.

I’m sorry to hear of Kathy’s passing. During the time we worked together I don’t recall a time when Katy was not smiling, always had a friendly greeting upon her arrival in the morning and a fond good day as she left for the day. She will be missed.
