Tom Clark

May 26, 1958 - March 26, 2017

Tribute

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, husband, dad and grandpa, Tom Clark.  Tom was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on May 26, 1958.

Tom leaves behind his loving wife Teresa, children Chris (Melissa), Ryan, Brittney (Clayton) and Alicia, step children Megan, Adam and Emily, parents Dick and Dorothy,  grandchildren Kai, Taya, Emily, Paitan, Traiten, Paul and Reese, siblings Bonnie, Jackie and Bob and former wife Jeanette.

Tom cherished his family more than anything in the world.  Tom took great pleasure in helping his family; he was our mechanic, handy-man, babysitter, chef, counsellor and advisor.   Tom’s favourite pastimes include gardening, working on his house, travelling and enjoying his evening cigar and beer on the deck with Teresa.

Tom was a loyal, humble and hard-working man.   At the beginning of his career Tom worked as a driver with Gray beverage in Victoria for 12 years.  During this time he also served as a volunteer fire fighter with the Langford Fire Department.  In 1994 he started working as a bus driver at the Cowichan Valley School District.  It was here that Tom met his “bus garage” family and his beloved Teresa.  Tom held many positions with the school district, in June 2016 Tom was appointed to Transportation Supervisor, a role where he was respected and loved.  Tom had the opportunity to touch many lives during his career and is remembered for his generosity, compassion and sense of humour.

Please join us for a celebration of life at the Mellor Hall at the Cowichan Exhibition Grounds, 7380 Trans-Canada Hwy, Duncan, BC on Sunday, April 9th, 2017 at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Tom Clark Memorial Bursary, c/o School District 79, 2557 Beverly Street, Duncan, BC, V9L 2X3.

Relation: Relationship - How did you know the deceased?

I wish to send condolences from our family to all of Tom’s family. I did not know Tom well but both my children did. My son spent many years riding the special needs bus where he got to know Tom. Everytime we see the bus he asks if Tom is driving it. I know Tom is going to be greatly missed.

Relation: Uncle

My Uncle Tom was such a family oriented, hard working man with a heart of gold. This is such a huge loss for our family and he will be greatly missed by all. My condolences to his wife Teresa, his children, Chris, Ryan, Britt and Alicia, my grandparents, his grand kids, his siblings and all his nieces and nephews who are feeling such pain from this loss. We love you and will forever remember you’re amazing soul and spirit. Thank you Uncle Tom for the years of love, and laughter. I am grateful for the memories and will cherish them dearly and miss you always.

Our condolence to Teresa and family. We know Tom from the time we lived on Vancouver Island and remember Tom as a very nice, friendly man. Very sad to hear Tom passed away.

I am sending deepest sympathy to Teresa and all of their famiies. I am remembering the good and kind man who helped me so very much at such a difficult time in my life. I would never have been able to look after my home or Charlie Brown without Tom;s steadfast support. I remember his hard work, humbleness, intelligence, gentleness, humour, patience, and most of all how much he loved Teresa, his children, grandchildren, step children and parents. I will be forever grateful to you my friend. A life well lived. You will be missed by many.

This is such a tragic loss and I wish to send my condolences to everyone affected by the loss of Tom. He was truly the kind of person who touched the lives of everyone he met. I will remember his kindness, love, humility and ability to laugh at himself and never take life to seriously always. I will forever be grateful for my memories with this incredible man. I love you forever Tommy!

It is with great sadness that I hear of Tom’s passing. My heart goes out to Teresa and the bus garage/operations department family. I had the privilege of working with Tom (and also Teresa) during my 14 years with sd79. Tom drove my children’s bus to Bench and Bonner and Kelsey. He drove hundreds of my work children for those 14 years at South End schools. Tom understood implicitly that as a driver he was the first and las sd employee each student saw each day. He went above and beyond to make all those interactions positive. He deeply cared for every passenger as if they were his own. Tom supported his colleagues and the families and the school staffs he worked with every day in every role he took on. My youngest child, now 20, would like it to be known that Tom was the “Best bus driver ever”. My thoughts are with you all.

Dear Teresa,
I was very sad to hear of Tom’s passing. Whenever he came through the door at the DRC he was always smiling and happy and he brightened the room. He was truly a pleasure to be around. He will be missed. My thoughts are with you and your family. Take care.

To Tom’s Family….I’m so sorry for your loss. It was too sudden and shocking. I was of the Cupe Sp Nds part of the Bus Garage and met Tom as he was coming to join Our Big Family. A wonderful man who always had a big smile on his face and was kind, to adults and especially our Sp Nds Kids. They loved him and so did we. He will be missed in so many ways by so many folks. His contributions in so many areas will always be remembered. My heart is with all of you at this very difficult time.
