August 16, 1937 - August 27, 2016

Robin passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 27, 2016. He is predeceased by his daughter Wendy Erickson, and seven older siblings. Survived by his wife Kathy and step-son Robert; his children Robert (Carol), Ken (Tammy), Rhonda (Gerry), Sean (Kari), Mark; sister-in-law Barb MacDowell, brother-in-law Don Patterson; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces & nephews. Robin was born in Chemainus to parents Nellie and Robert MacDowell. Robin spent the first nine years of his life in Crofton on the property where the Crofton Mill is now located. He told many stories of the fun times he had playing on the wharf and rail trains. Robin worked in the cement industry his whole life, beginning with Butler Bros and finishing his career at Trio Ready-Mix. Robin loved dogs, especially German Shepherds. His latest girl Petie will miss him dearly. Robin loved travelling and enjoyed making travel arrangements whether for a cruise, a road trip to San Diego or quick trip to Bellingham. Prior to his illness he loved to cook and bake, he made the best New York cheesecake and Black Forest Cake. A special thanks to Dr. Gilbert and the nursing staff at CDH. At Robin’s request, there will be no service. Condolences may be shared online at www.hwwallacecbc.com. at this time.

Thankful that Dad had Kathy in his life.
Thankful that we (his siblings) could all be there with him.
Thankful that Dad is without pain and with his family that passed before him.

From: Marjatta and Martin Breuhan
Relation: Friends

We are so thankful to have known Robin, delighted in his stories, shared his fiesty thoughts and dreams, had scrumptious meals together, and got to meet his many Shepard family members. We will miss him dearly and each stop at Tim Horton’s or eating Dairy Queen cakes will always remind us of his company, love for life and his love for his dear Kathy! He taught us lessons of resilience, courage and how to laugh at life’s foibles. May his family and friends know comfort and peace knowing Robin lived a good life and on his terms. Martin and Marjatta
