Robert Forrest
January 27, 1944 - December 10, 2017
Tribute
With great sadness, the Forrest family announces the passing of a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Cliff passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
Cliff is predeceased by his parents Robert and Evelyn Forrest. Cliff always welcomed everyone into our home, and he dedicated his life to his family and his community. Cliff was a third-generation pioneer of Hillbank Farms in Cowichan Station and the owner/operator of Hillbank Gravel Supplies. He was a volunteer fire fighter and Fire Chief of the Cowichan Bay Fire Rescue and was a board member of the Cowichan Bay Fire Board. Cliff was also on the Elks Board of Directors and volunteered for numerous events and fundraising activities. As well, Cliff was actively involved in Duncan Junior Baseball as a coach and umpire and in bowling, hockey, and soccer with his three sons.
Cliff is survived by his loving wife Joyce of 52 years, three sons Rob (Teresa), Tom (Lisa), and Darin (Jennie), as well as 6 grandchildren Dustin, Cory (Corissa), Dylan, Connor, Logan, and Jade and 3 great grandchildren Kaleb, Keyden, and Blakely, and his walking partner (Sammy the dog). Cliff was a generous man to his entire family, including his nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-inlaw, and cousins. Joyce and the family would like to thank Cowichan Valley Home Support and Care and Dr. Andrea Wilhelm for the exceptional kindness and care provided to Cliff.
A celebration of life is being held at the Cowichan Bay Fire and Rescue Hall (4461 Trans Canada Highway) on January 6th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Victoria’s Quilts Canada (http://www.victoriaquiltscanada. com) would be generously accepted.

Sending my heartfelt love to all of the family & friends who were touched by Cliff. Cliff gave me my very first job at Hillbank Gravel supplies. I was 13 & though I only worked Saturdays I bet that office never smelled so good as he’d supply me with lemon fresh pledge to “clean”. Every time I smell that it brings back good memories. I have many memories of the firehall picnics at the Forrest house, parties, and more. I have & will cherish all the memories. Hugging the hearts of your family Cliff.
