Tribute
Amstutz; Peter (Pierre) – born in Bettendorf, France on October 8, 1930 – passed away peacefully on March 11, 2011 at home in Lake Cowichan, surrounded by his loving family. Peter immigrated to Canada in 1951 and spent many years working as head cook in Nitinat – Camp 3, and later retired as Manager of the Lake Cowichan Elk’s Club.
He is predeceased by his wife Martha (Glenn), parents Rose and Jean; siblings, Paul, Bertha and Hans. He is survived by sisters Jeanne and family in France, and Marie Rose and family in Switzerland.
He is lovingly remembered by his children: Larry (Collene) and sons Michael & Bryan; Frank (Will); Claire (Mark) and children Lindsay, Scott, Shaun, and Matthew; Ron (Jane) and son Alexander; and Becky (Joe), and daughters Brittany & Shelby.
Peter was a very proud and loving grandpa and loved spending quality time with his grandchildren. He took great pleasure in his garden and being outdoors, including many hours walking his dogs Candy and Brady and mushroom picking in the Lake Cowichan area.
Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Froese for his extreme kindness, quality care and compassion. We would also like to thank Ellen Anderson for her home care and thoughtfulness, as well as the staff at Cowichan Regional District Hospital.
