Mom was born in Ranfurly, Alberta.
As a young child, the family moved to :the north country” as Mom called it,
to homestead in the Elk Point, Alta. area. Mom is predeceased by her father, Walter Fiske Haggard and her mother Effie Murray Deare as well as her sisters Grace Brown, Libby Lundgren, Margaret Charest as well as brothers Philip and Frank Haggard. Her husbands John Stetsko and Al [Sid] Skinner. Survived by sister Hazel Hannah and family in Elk Point. Mom came to Lake Cowichan in 1945 and raised her five children here Gail Christiansen [Wiktor] Keith, Byron [Aina], Digby [Joan] Stetsko, and her long awaited baby girl Lorena Lamont [Al] Mom had 20 grandchildren, 27 great and 4 great great grandchildren, as well as numerous nephews and nieces throughout B.C. and Alberta. Mom spent many years in Victoria working at the Jubilee Hosp., as well as in private homecare. For many years in the carpet cleaning business. Mom returned to Lake Cowichan in her later years and was able to be independent thank to Home Support staff. Her final months were spent in Cerwydden, thanks to all the staff for their care.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Lake Cowichan Kingdom Hall of Jehovah”s Witnesses 149 Neva Rd. Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 2 P.M. with a Tea to follow at the Lions Hall 131 Oak Lane, Lake Cowichan.
