Tribute
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother,
Marlene Long (Cartmell) on Wednesday July 6 th 2016.
Mom was born in Powelll River February 25th 1937, to the late James and Elizabeth Cartmell. Predeceased by her Sister Marylee, brother Donald, and son Gary. Survived by her loving husband Rodney, Children Maureen ( Peter), Cathy (John), Robert (Tracy) Shannon (Gerald) Eleven Grandchildren Chris,Kurtis,Kelsey,Cory,Cameron,Aaron,Jaden,Kieren,Ariane, Roddy and Jessie. Great Grandchildren Linden.Milo,Carson and Ashton.
Mom and Dad were married in 1954 in Powell River BC and made their way to Youbou in 1960 where they still reside today.
Mom contributed 15 plus years into the Youbou community with CVRD beautifying the town and creating a community with a remarkable spirit.
Our family have spent many Holidays and fun times together in our Youbou family home. We have lost the most loving caring woman and she will be missed immensely.
There will be a gathering for family and friends at our Youbou home, 10529 Cypress Rd. Sunday July 10 th from 1pm till 4pm

Just learned of Marlene’s passing and am so very sorry to lose such a vital part of Youbou’s spirit. I have many memories of her and times spent at their house on Cypress –especially sledding and tubing down that long driveway in the winter. Marlene was always so full of life!
