Margaret Brown

November 2, 1941 - March 25, 2014

Tribute

Born November 2, 1941, at Grace Hospital, Vancouver and passed away on March 25, 2014 at Cairnsmore Place, Duncan.

Dianne moved to Duncan at the age of 8 and spent her school years at Duncan Elementary and Cowichan High Schools.  She was the proud Chartered Honoured Queen of Bethel 38, International Order of Job’s Daughters.

After completing high school, she worked in Victoria at the BC Motor Vehicles Branch before returning to Duncan where she was employed as a secretary at BC Forest Products Pulp and Paper Mill for 38 years.  Her hard work, efficiency and sunny personality gained her the respect of all who had the good fortune to know her.

She took great pride in being a terrific cook, a fine home maker and hostess and most of all, the terrific wife of her beloved husband, Jim Brown of 45 years.  Together, they curled, boated, golfed, and camped for many happy years at Tall Timbers, Sproat Lake. Her Brindle Boxers were as great a joy to her as she was to them.

Jim and Dianne travelled the world spending many winters in Mexico and visiting relatives in Scotland, and cheering on the teams at the Brier Curling championships.  Winter holidays in r

Another of Dianne’s passions was known as the shy one of the Hudson family.  But when the eyes twinkled and the mouth giggled, the stage was set for the wry comments that would surely follow.  Her infectious laughter and her spunky spirit will be missed by all.

Dianne was predeceased by her parents, Archie and Mary Hudson, and sister in-law, Marlene Hudson.  She leaves to mourn and celebrate her life, her husband and love of her life, Jim Brown, her brothers Doug (Marilyn), Port Alberni; Alan and Jim Hudson, Duncan; and sister, Trish McInnes of Courtenay, five nieces and two nephews, and many dear friends.

The family is grateful for the kind and loving care of the staff at Cairnsmore Place during Dianne’s final difficult months.

In honouring Dianne’s wishes, there will not be a funeral service.  The family asks you to remember all the good times you enjoyed with our Diane.

Jim, I will always remember the kindness you and Diane showed to us when we were new in the community. You introduced us to the Curling group (I remember very hard sweeping) and it helped us get to know and make other friends. And then, working with Diane was always fun and I found out she was always kind. Good memories.
