Kevin Moore

May 7, 1976 - June 11, 2011

Tribute

Moore, Kevin James;

1976-2011

When Kevin entered hospital at the end of February with inoperable brain cancer, a friend said, “Enjoy your time.” The following fifteen weeks were filled with a closeness, a spirit of joy, visits from endearing friends, and the continual support of a staff on South 6 at the Victoria General that made our daily visits much like being surrounded by people who cared. We experienced a sense of community that life should always contain. There will always be a place in our hearts for Kevin’s smile, his undaunted compassion for people, and the music that he created on the piano, guitar and in songs. Besides his mother and father, Jim and Jean Moore of Mill Bay, Kevin leaves his brother, Ian (Clara) and nephew Alec, of Edmonton, seven Canadian and seven Scottish cousins and their families. A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 531 Herbert St. Duncan, British Columbia on Wednesday, June 22, at 2:00. If desired friends may donate to the BC Cancer Society 100-394 Duncan St. Duncan British Columbia V9L 3W4 in Kevin’s name. Online condolences may be offered at www.hwwallacecbc.com

“Love one another as I have loved you.”

Relation: Through work

Dear Jim and Jean:

On behalf of the “Angels” – Pauline, Bea, Carolyn and myself, we would like you to know how very sorry we are to hear about the loss of your son Kevin.

The loss of a child must be overwhelming and we want both of you to know we are thinking about you at this time.

If there is anything we can do for you please do not hesitate to ask.

God bless

From: Nick Prowse
Relation: teacher and rugby coach

I was greatly shocked and saddened to read in the ‘Pictorial’ of Kevin’s illness and death. During his Grade Nine year at Brentwood I was Kevin’s rugby coach. He was a tough, gutsy team player who earned the respect of all with whom he played. Although quiet by nature, Kevin was neverless a true leader on the field who played a major role in a highly successful tour to Ontario and Quebec. That, through my ignorance of his situation, I was not able to visit Kevin during his final illness and tell him how much I, as his coach, appreciated his total commitment to me and the team, will forever weigh on my mind as a missed opportunity to salute him as one of the best kids I ever coached. Sadly Kevin, you proved the old axiom that ‘the good die young’. My heartfelt condolences to all the family, sincerely, Nick Prowse
