Relation: He was my father in law .
So sorry to hear of John’s passing. John was indeed a very unique person. Having met him over 30 years ago at one of his pig spit parties in Whittenburg, N.S. He had a lasting impression of people. I am sure John is on another one of his adventures.

Relation: Bought his truck.
I was always intrigued by this man. I purchased his homemade burgundy 1994 Dodge Ram 3500 camper conversion in about 2008, shortly after he traded it for his yellow Mazda. Anyone who saw this truck knows what I’m talking about. He saw it in my driveway one day, introduced himself as the creator and then told me his story. He bought the truck from the factory and cut the back off the cab. He then constructed, from scratch, an elaborate and fully equipped camper addition attached to the back of the cab. He drove it about 340,000 km’s with his wife, lugging it up highway 24 in 2nd gear while towing a trailer. He also showed me his homemade teardrop trailer that he designed exclusively for him and his wife. From what I gathered, this was a man of creativity, resourcefulness and work ethic. He was a motivated traveler, Korean war vet, accomplished sheet metal worker, welder, mechanic, traveler, inventor, and despite his height, an energetic and enthusiastic man full of pep, well into his last years. I still have his truck today and his card, and i’m still impressed by his work.
