Joan Mae Hodgins (Park)

November 29, 1936 - February 5, 2015

Tribute

Born Nov 29/1936 in Truro N.S., Passed away Feb 5/2015 at Cowichan District Hospital. She leaves behind her husband of 15 years, Connor, her children Norah (Dennis), Crystal and David, as well as 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.  She was pre- deceased by her son Mark in April 1967, her son Scot in March 2008, and her first husband Don Spencer in April 2007. Joan was a military wife in her younger years which meant raising her children alone a lot of the time.  She always worked outside the home, retiring at age 65 after a long career with Taylor Granito.  She was involved with her children’s activities, becoming a Guide Leader, as well as a Guardian with Jobs Daughters. Her greatest adventure was sailing as a deck hand from Hawaii to VictoriaShe enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Eagles every Friday night for meat draw, and was a great Nascar fan. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Elliott and all the staff at the CDH for the wonderful care she received

My husband, Duck (now deceased) and I knew Don & Joanie when we were all in Maple Bay. I remember sailing with them and PARTIES like you would not believe. Joanie’s wonderful laugh..

Joan was a hard working dedicated secretary at Taylor Granitto. Her quick and questioning mind was a great asset. Seeing her photo in the paper brought back many pleasant memories from those working years. Thinking of all the family.
