Janice Elaine Monk (Markin)

March 29, 1965 - February 16, 2015

Tribute

In loving memory of Janice Monk (Markin) March 29, 1965 – February 16, 2015.  It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Janice Monk after a short illness surrounded by her loving family.  She will be forever loved and missed by husband Gord, daughter Nicole Westre (Evan), son Tony, parents John and Ilse Markin, sister Yvonne Madden (Al), brothers Darryl and Trevor, In-laws Eric and Mary Monk and numerous extended family members; including her many friends at Thrifty Foods in Mill Bay where she worked for the last 23 years.  Janice was very proud of her children and was a very devoted wife and mother cheering from the stands or helping out at school.  She was an avid Canucks fan, loved cooking and music and enjoyed any road trip as she was an excellent navigator.  A “Celebration of Life” will be held on March 29, 2015 from noon to 3:00 pm at the Glenora Hall. 3660 Glenora Road, Duncan, BC.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Crohn's and Colitis Canada Foundation or the Ricky Ryp Foundation for Mental Health Awareness.

You and I will meet again
When we’re least expecting it
One day in some far off place
I will recognize your face

My heart goes out to you guys, Gord, Tony & Nicole. Your mom was such a caring person and loved you and talked about how proud she was of Nicole and tony. Gord her and I would talk about those great road trips you two would take and those pics she would take were fantastic. This may sound weird but I know she is gone but I still feel like she’s going to walk in to work one day soon. I know I will see you again someday Janice, I so miss (and I’m sure I’m not the only one) your crazy awesome stories and talking canucks with you, your sense of humour and of course your beautiful smile 🙂 RIP <3 <3

Gord, words cannot express how very sorry we were to hear this. My heart goes out to you and your family. Growing up you were always my *other* brother and my heart hurts for you. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Relation: Cousin

I still have a hard time believing you’re gone Janice. I’m so glad we connected a bit at least before you passed. My memories of our childhood gives me lots of laughs and smiles. I miss your online chatter during the hockey games — they were sometimes the highlight of the game for me! The loss is very acute during game nights.

My thoughts go out to her entire family during this heartbreaking loss. She will be missed dearly.

Janice, you made an impact on every life you touched with your smile and your thoughtfulness, and yes, your Canuck fever!!

My sincere condolences to your family.
