Jane Swanson

August 31, 1946 - February 19, 2023

Tribute

Jane L. Swanson-Grant (Millar)

Born August 31, 1946, in Vancouver

Went to be with her Lord, the morning of February 19, 2023, at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria

But just think of stepping on shore — And finding it Heaven!

Of touching a hand — And finding it God’s!

Of breathing new air — And finding it celestial!

Of waking up in glory — And finding it home!

Mom — you were loved by so many.

Raised by your loving parents James Jamieson Millar (1917-2003) and Sadie Millar (Gaskin) (1916-1985), and reunited with them now, along with your brother Gary, who we lost tragically in January of 2017. Husband John Grant taken by cancer in 2013, you kept going another nine years. Also predeceased by first husband Harold Swanson in January of 2019. Mom, you’ll also be very happy to see the aunts you loved so much, Agnes and Daisy, along with other extended family you treasured. Survived by your two sons and their families — Jim Swanson, Lori and loving grandchildren Zachary and Rachel, of Victoria, and Ken Swanson, Karen and your loving oldest grandchildren Shelby (of Burnaby) and Amanda Esau (Nicholas, of Calgary). Cousin Linda (North Vancouver), extended family throughout the Okanagan, and so many friends and colleagues in real estate, in the Sandstone complex, and at Trinity Church in Kelowna left to remember your kind smile. Cherished friends included Charlotte and Cathy, Audrey, Mary, Sue, Marg, Darlene and Frank, and Dennis and Bea. You lived in Vancouver, Kelowna, Quesnel, Grand Forks and Saskatoon, your final sunsets were spent in James Bay and the lovely Amica Somerset on Dallas Road in Victoria. You impacted so many in so many ways, including your piano skills and singing voice in church.

No funeral service per her wishes, but her sons intend to plan a memorial gathering and graveside later in the summer in Kelowna, details to come. She would have been 77 on August 31, 2023 — Internment will be in the family plot with her parents and brother at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery.

Dear Swanson Family: Bob and I are very sorry to hear that my beloved friend of many years has passed away. Jane was a very kind friend who worked with me as a realestate partner. She sincerely cared for her clients and her many friends. We will all miss her lovely smiles.

From: Barb & Randy

We first met Jane in April 2016 when she joined myself and my husband Randy, our friend Pat and mutual friend Charlotte on a trip to Cuba. We had an amazing time in Cuba with Jane and really got to know her. She was a wonderful, kind person and we are thankful for the years we were able to call her a friend. We are deeply sorry for your loss Ken & Karen, Jim & Lori, and family. Another Angel has arrived in heaven.
