Tribute
James (Jamie) Colin Gordon Born July 23, 1962 Kenora Ont. passed away January 11th, 2013 in Victoria BC wrapped in the love of his partner Marianne who faithfully cared for him throughout his hard fought battle with cancer.
Jamie will be forever missed by his partner Marianne (Sanders); children Daryld (Dana), Dwayne (Cheryl) and Shelby; grandchildren Grace and Nolan; family in Kenora, Ont, mother Heather, siblings, Don and Marg (Ray), niece Alex, nephews Owen and Scott; dear friends Bill, Ernie, Kevin as well as numerous members of Jamie’s hockey and golf family across the country who have meant so much. Lastly, precious companion Little Kitty ~ Smokie, who brought Jamie so much joy. The family is especially grateful to the friends who were able to visit and offer their love and support while Jamie was at home and in hospice.
Jamie was a thoughtful and caring man who wanted the best for everyone around him. He lived in the moment and loved to travel and golf. Over the years Jamie golfed his way through many places in the US, much of Canada and most of the courses on Vancouver Island. He was a carpenter by trade and was also involved in the fuel industry building commercial card locks on Vancouver Island. Jamie began working on the final phase of the Crofton sea walk before he had to stop working due to his illness. Jamie enjoyed curling at the Duncan curling club, he loved golf, hockey and his hockey teammates who were truly a part of his family. Jamie loved and lived everyday to golf. He loved the competition of golf and met and remained friends with so many. He had been a member at Olympic View, Cordova Bay and most recently Duncan Meadows.
Special thanks to Dr. Kenneth Wilson, BC Cancer Agency; Dr. Ryan, Dr. Gail, Victoria Hospice along with the amazing nurses and volunteers.
A celebration of life will be held at Travelodge 140 Trans Canada Highway in Duncan on Saturday, January 19th, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.
