Dorothy Euphemia Wood (Keir)

January 1, 1931 - March 17, 2015

Tribute

Taken so quickly on March 17, 2015, after a sudden illness, at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria, the same place where she was born January 1, 1931.  Predeceased by her husband, Lloyd in 2013, and survived by children Linda Kenning (Al) and Marvin (Betty), grandchildren Erin, Stuart, Tim, Kevin, Andrew and Dana, and 4 great grandchildren.  Dorothy and Lloyd were married on August 16, 1952, lived in Brentwood Bay, and moved to Duncan in 1964.  They formed life-long friendships at home, while travelling the world, and boating locally on the Tahanea II, plus enjoyed 30 years at their 2nd home on Maui.  Dorothy was vibrant and energetic, and believed strongly in community service.  She was very proud to have been a Life member of the Auxiliary to Cowichan District Hospital, serving for 48 years, most recently at H.A.T.S.  Together with Lloyd she was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow, a Life member of the Maple Bay Yacht Club, and member of the Probus Club of Cowichan Valley.  A private family service will be held at a later date.  Donations to the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation in Dorothy’s memory would be appreciated.

Marvin and Betty–We were so sorry to hear of the sudden loss of your mother and mother-in-law. Sincere sympathies from us both.

From: Diane Scott Zeck
Relation: friend and neighbor

I am so sorry for the great loss of your angel mother and grandmother. I remember Dorothy fondly from the time we spent together after my family had moved from Newfoundland to Duncan, B.C. Dorothy’s daughter Linda was my first friend in my new hometown. I remember how gentle and sweet and kind Dorothy’s spirit was as I spent time in her home and on their boat, the Tahanea II. Dorothy and Lloyd were the cutest couple and loved life and our beautiful surroundings. I always felt safe and special in their presence. It is my prayer that as you think of your loved ones, your hearts will be at peace by the endearing memories and knowing that this separation is only for a short time, until you meet again in God’s kingdom where your reunion will be glorious. God bless you all.
