D. Elinor Conley

June 9, 1931 - March 25, 2019

Tribute

         Elinor Conley (née Eastman)

June 9, 1931 – March 25, 2019.

Elinor was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan on June 9, 1931 to Korah and Vera Eastman.

She went home to be with the Lord on March 25, 2019, at the Cowichan District Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Elinor is lovingly remembered by her children, Adrice Clamp, Kathleen Conley, David (Jackie) Conley, Charlotte Hollings-Alexander, Shirley (Rob) George, grandchildren Rosanne, Leevi, Serena, Crystal, Matt, Eddy, Michelle, Braden, Jenn, Adam, Sarah, Heather and Josiah, many great-grandchildren- the loves of her life, her brothers Bob (Mary), Allan (Shirley), Richard, Sandy (Lorna), her sisters Shirley, Alice (Dick), and her family-by-love, Bill & Jean Aumen, Scott (Jennifer), Lisa (Russ), Melissa (Rob), Cody and their children. She is predeceased by her brothers Wilson, Pat, Terry, her sisters Jean, Pearl, Gwen, Margaret, Lois and Sheila, son Edward Hollings and grandson Stefan.

Elinor was the 9th of 16 children; she loved being part of a big family. To escape the Depression, when she was 6, her father drove the whole family from Saskatchewan to BC in just a small pickup truck, to begin a new life in Chemainus. She would talk often of the good times on the family farm on River Road. She got married in 1950 and would go on to raise her children and foster children on a farm in Duncan. She loved being a foster mom; she opened her heart and home to many children. She treasured her many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and friends and truly enjoyed her visits and phone chats with each and every one of them.

Elinor attended Bethel Baptist Church for many years; she adored her church family.
She always looked forward to spending time with the ladies at the ‘Tuesday Ladies Bible Study’.

Mom loved God and trusted in Him; He was her Peace and her Strength. She took everything and everyone to Him in prayer and spent every morning in quiet devotion. We will miss her so much but know that she is at peace and at home with God in Heaven.

Our Family would like to thank the nursing staff at Cowichan District Hospital and the paramedics for taking such great care of Mom (Grandma). And a special thanks to Nurse Sue Wallace who went above and beyond.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday March 30, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 463 Ypres Street, Duncan BC. Reception to follow.
