Brian Stewart
May 16, 1933 - June 23, 2023
Tribute
We are saddened to announce the passing of Brian Stewart, at home, on June 23, 2023, at the age of 90.
Brian was born in Schreiber, Ontario on May 16, 1933, where he met and married his wife of nearly 61 years, Pat. Working first on the Canadian Pacific Railway on the signal gang and then as an electrician in the pulp and paper industry both in Ontario and at Crofton Mill, Brian and Pat settled in Duncan in 1965 where they raised their family.
Brian will be sadly missed by his partner in life Pat, his two daughters Julie (Jeff) and Laura (Bill), his grandchildren Bradley and Kelsey (Luke) and many nieces, nephews and friends. Brian is predeceased by parents Hugh and Alma, brothers Donald (Nellie) and Bob (Agnes), and sister Sally (Steve). Brian was excited for the approaching birth of his first great-grandchild in September.
Brian was community minded, having served for over a decade with the Duncan Volunteer Fire Department where he made life-long friendships and enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow firefighters. Brian then volunteered for more than 10 years at the BC Forest Discovery Centre where he was privileged to feed his passion for trains and all things mechanical. People will remember his Halloween Train flying ghost that flew for many years.
Our heartfelt gratitude to the sensitive and compassionate care of Dr. Burger, and of the first responders who attended at Brian’s time of passing.
In respect of Brian’s wishes, no memorial service will be held, but online condolences may be made at www.hwwallacecbc.com. For those who wish, donations may be made to the BC Forest Discovery Centre or a charity of your choice.

Susan and I have missed our coffee meetings with Brian and Pat due to Covid 19.
I started working as an apprentice with Brian in 1970. It was enjoyable working with him over many years in Crofton. We also worked together at the sawmill in Cowichan bay. Great memories.
