Tribute

DRAKE, Anne Maria

Born July 21, 1937 at Lampman Sask. Anne passed away on June 9, 2009 after a brief battle with cancer.

Anne was predeceased by her husband Charles (Bud) Drake; three sisters, Francis (Ed) Rood, Margaret (Joe) Myers, Barbara (Matt) Herberholtz, and one brother Paul (Arlene) Messer. She is survived by 3 sisters Marie Forsang, Betty (Bob) Wimmer, Clara Kuntz and five brothers, Jack (Marge) Messer, Andy (Lillian) Messer, John (Bea) Messer, Joe (Julie) Messer and Martin Messer. She is also survived by a large extended family of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews all of whom were very close to her heart.

Anne was a great cook and spent many hours cooking and baking for the enjoyment of others. While she did often sample her own efforts most of the finished product was lovingly given to others as gifts. If you were fortunate enough to be on the receiving end of these gifts you were in for a real treat. Anne’s other passion was Humming Birds, whether ornamental or at her bird feeders, they gave her hours of joy and entertainment.

Anne will be dearly missed by all of her family and many friends. An informal Celebration of Life will be held June 27th, 2009 at the Lighthouse Community Centre, 240 Lions Way, Bowser, BC, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. All flowers and donations are gratefully declined. Online condolences may be offered at www.hwwallacecbc.com.

We have many great memories of our visits with Aunt Annie! One of the best for me was visiting a china shop in Nelson, B.C. We not only found a tea pot but had lots of laughs shopping. V

We never seen Auntie Anne much as we lived too far apart, but we did keep in touch over the phone regularly and had alot of great talks. She was always cheerful and found something to laugh about no matter what. She was very thoughful when times were tough, and always had a phone call or a card to send to whoever needed cheering, and I think thats what I liked most about her, was her caring ways. We’ll miss her alot. love Gloria!!

Over the past 10 years we have been very close to Aunt Anne, talking on the phone almost daily and often 3 or 4 times a day. Living on the Island, it was easy enough to visit her also, although it seemed we did not get together often enough. That seems especially true now since she is gone. Before, there was always next week or the week after. Now there are no more chances.
We were luck in that we did get to see her several times in the last few months. And although she was ill there was still a chance to talk and an opportunity to share a laugh and a hug.
We will think about her when we see a humming bird or taste a “goody” that is not quite as good as she would have made. And I know she will come to mind when the phone rings in the morning.
We miss her a lot and will remember her always.
Love ………. Bill & Darlene
