Tribute
The world is a poorer, sadder place with the loss of a loving, generous, funny, fiercely loyal man of integrity. Dad passed away at Cairnsmore Place in Duncan, where he was loved and cared for by everyone. We are so grateful to the kind, caring people there. He was born in Medicine Hat into a family of12 children, two of which (Ben and Alice) survive him. He came from a family of wrestlers and boxers and held the title in the Welter Weight division. He served as a medic/stretcher bearer in World War II and was wounded on the Hitler Line in northern Italy. He came home to marry his sweetheart, Violet, and gave up his plans to go to medical school. He wanted a family and started working for Canada Post. His hard work and ambition did not go unnoticed and he was eventually promoted to Postmaster in Moose Jaw. Dad and Mom found true peace and happiness in 1954 when they embarked on a long life of loyal service to their God Jehovah. Mom died in December of 2006 and Dad never stopped missing her. Al is survived by two children, his “favourite son”, Gary and his “favourite daughter”, Bonnie, three grandchildren, Gillian, David and Deidre and four great grandchildren. He is loved and missed by his brothers and sisters in the Mill Bay Congregation in Cobble Hill. Dad had faith in God’s promise to restore the earth to a paradise and he looked forward to the day when “God will call, the dead will answer, they shall live at his command.” (Job 14:13-15)
Until then, Dad……………………………………

From: Llana Fair
Relation: lived in Mill Bay from 1997 to 2003
Our family lived in Mill Bay for five years and had the privilege to get to know your parents during that time. They were a very caring and loving couple and it made our life fuller to add them to our list of friends. We were saddened to hear about Al’s loss of his dear wife 10 years ago, which we knew affected him deeply. What I remember about Al was his caring eyes when he assisted us through any of our ordeals. He has a special place in my heart and I look forward to seeing him in the new system along with many others, including my husband , Earl, who passed away two years ago. Please accept my condolences at this time. 2 Corinthians 1:3.4
