Anne Ruppenthal

December 31, 1930 - February 2, 2017

Tribute

Beloved Wife, Mother, Nana, Great-Nana, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2017 at the Lodge on 4th in Ladysmith, BC, with family by her side.

Anne was born in Winnipeg, MB and was the youngest of four children born to Phillip and Mary Rawluk.  Anne married John Ruppenthal on September 13, 1952 in Winnipeg where they raised four children.  In 1974, they pulled up stakes and moved to Duncan, BC where they owned and operated Electra Refrigeration & Appliance until their retirement.  Since then they have devoted their lives to their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Anne always strived to reach new goals, to be progressive and cared deeply for everyone she met.  She always had a quick sense of humour and made light of any situation.  Despite her failing health in recent months, she was determined to reach out and support the family she loved so much.

Anne was predeceased by her parents and two older brothers, Paul and Mike and by her son-in-law, Paul Bolo.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, John, whom she cherished for 64 years; her sons, Rick (Sheila) & Rob (Leslie), her daughters Jann (Ben) & JoAnne (Tom), and by her Aunt Jean and brother, Bill.

She will be sadly missed by her special grandchildren, Bryan, Holly (Kevin), Adina (Randall), Cassandra (Frank), Angela (Dan), Aidan and Joey and her great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Kayden, Kori, Kayla, Brendan, Levae, Bradleigh and Jasmine. Also by her Brother In-laws and Sister In-law, many nieces and nephews and their families. Missing her deeply will be her honorary daughter Sandy, her children and her lifelong friends Anne and Roy.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ismail and all the care staff at the Cowichan District Hospital and the Lodge on 4th for the compassionate care they provided during Anne’s final months.

At the request of Anne, there will be no service, however the family will hold a Celebration of Life social at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of BC in Anne’s memory.

Remaining positive until the end, Anne was an example to all of us.  Her famous line to her family was “now go out and spread your sunshine”.

Our heart felt condolences to the whole family of this beautiful soul. I was lucky enough to see her and share a meal together in Victoria along with Uncle John, Rick and Shelia a few years back. Social media got us reconnected after so many years apart and for that I am forever grateful. ♡ ♡ RIP
