Norma (Normie) Joan Morton

We are mourning the loss of Normie Joan Morton, who peacefully passed away on June 19th, 2021 with her loved ones by her side. Beloved wife of the late Terrance Edward Wildeman, she is survived by her children – Raquel (Charles), Ingrid, and Lee, as well as her mother – Kay McMillen, grandchildren – Ariel, Kaylee, Parker and Ava.
A dedicated employee of Canada Post for over 40 years, she developed relationships with customers on her route that often turned into lifelong friendships. Friendly to all those who crossed her path, she was always quick to strike up a conversation, and had a special ability to make those around her feel truly loved. A free spirit and an adventurer at heart, she travelled to dozens of countries, loved music, and sharing stories about her exciting life. The world has truly lost one of its brightest and most beautiful lights, and Normie will be dearly missed by her family and the many friends she made in her exciting life.
Her family would like to thank the amazing staff at Chemainus Health Care Centre for their compassion and care during her struggle with dementia.
A celebration of Normie’s life will be planned when friends and family can safely gather again.

I met Normie in the early 60’s. Our moms were good friends and many a weekend was spent on Gabriola Island….music, dances, digging for clams and fabulous Easter egg hunts.
She was sweet, kind and very patient with this kid that hung on every word.
I am sad to read about her passing. Memories are life’s treasures and I am sure that she left her family with a fortune.
Can anyone tell me where Kay is…I would love to see her again.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Normie was only a few years older than me when we …I think Normie was in her early 20’s and to me was the very sophisticated chic world traveler. We became good friends sharing many laughs, dinners and fun parties. One of the best memories being a halloween party in your old farm house in Cowichan Station. I always remember Normie living life to the fullest enjoying fresh flowers, fashion magazines and long baths. She was special and so kind to everyone. Til we meet again Normie.

I lost a piece of my heart the day that my beloved aunt Normie passed. She was one of the sweetest and most wonderful people I have ever known, and played such an integral role in my upbringing. I will always look at her as a second mother to me. I am so thankful of all the memories I will carry with me, from the growing up days at the old house, to living with her briefly at the apartment in Downtown Duncan. An adventurous spirit, she loved to travel and would leave the house for hours at a time just to get out and walk and find yet another adventure. What a wonderful and truly amazing life this beautiful soul lived. I will think of you always, Auntie Normie. The unconditional love you showed me over the years, the unwavering support, all of the heartfelt talks – you helped me grow in this world more than you could ever imagine. Rest in Power, beautiful lady. Until we meet again……
