Patricia Anne Ruckemesser

April 10, 1950 - May 11, 2021

Tribute

It is with great sadness that the family of Patricia Ruckemesser, announce her passing on May 11, 2021 at the Cowichan District Hospital. Pat passed away peacefully with family by her side.

Pat will be lovingly remembered by her son Brad Ruckemesser (Jen) and daughter Janet Ruckemesser.

She will be fondly remembered by granddaughters Kassidy, Madison and Taylor, great granddaughters, Isabella and Thalia.

Pat is survived by her sister Colleen Tozer (Jim), brother Norm Biegler (Tracy) as well as her nieces and nephews.

Pat also known to many as Patsy, was born April 10, 1950 in New Westminster BC to the late Gerald and Valerie Biegler.  Soon after Pat was born the family moved to Tahsis BC where Pat grew up most of her life, graduating from Captain Meares Secondary in 1969.  In 1973, Pat’s son Brad was born in Burnaby. In 1976, after moving to Duncan, her daughter Janet was born.

Pat worked at Duncan Hyundai and then moved on to work at the Cowichan District Hospital for many years.  In 1993 a brain tumour was removed resulting in struggles with mobility and motor skills.  After her recovery Pat took on a career of house cleaning until she retired.

Pat was very caring and compassionate. If you needed something she was always willing to help in any way she could.  Taking care of family and friends was her way of showing she cared.  Pat enjoyed fishing back in the Tahsis days, she was always proud to say how she caught and reeled in large salmon and cod, she spent many years in bowling leagues, camping, boating, spending time in the sun gardening or just sitting and reading a book on the deck.  She kept busy outside as well as inside her house refinishing or redecorating something. Pat enjoyed family gatherings, cooking and baking on her own as well as with her grandchildren.  You could always find her looking up new recipes and trying them on her family.  We will always remember and miss walking into the house to the smell of fresh baked buns.

Pat’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the Doctor’s from the Ingram clinic, specialists, staff from the Cowichan District Hospital and HW Wallace for all their care and compassion.

From: Leslie

Your Mom worked for our janitorial business and we remained friends after she moved on. I used to run into her every once in a while the last few years. My heartfelt condolences to your family. It is always so difficult to lose your mother but I know you will always keep her in your heart. Just remember that it was not how much she enriched your lives but also how much you enriched hers. She was very proud of her children.
