It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our husband and father Bill. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Jacoba and his brothers Robert and Harry. He will be greatly missed by his sweetheart and loving wife Joe Ann, his children Rick (Linda), Jan (Daryl), Lori (Mark), Steven (Susan), Greg (Donna-Lynn), and his stepdaughter Susan (Rod). He leaves eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Bill was born in Vancouver and worked for the Medical Services Association, directing the claims department and was a key individual involved in establishing the Medical Services Plan of British Columbia. He moved to Victoria in 1974 where he worked for the Medical Services Plan until his retirement in 1987. Bill kept active by dabbling in real estate, golfing, fishing (his passion) and travelling. He is remembered fondly by his children for the many hikes and camping trips they spent together.
Family and friends are invited to share memories and celebrate his life at an open house at the Thorpe home in on Sunday, October 2, 2011 from 2-6pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be offered at www.hwwallaccecbc.com
