Tribute

Wilfred Oliver Laberge

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Wilf on April 26th, 2016

Wilf was a loving husband to Michelle and awesome Dad to Tim (Mackenzie) and Ashlee.

He has joined his parents Emma & Joseph Laberge, siblings Roland, Bernadette & Albert.

Wilf was born in Victoria Dec 10th, 1964, and grew up in the area. He loved sports and was an avid hockey, baseball, and football player.

Wilf has left us with a wonderful legacy of zany, goofball memories. He was selfless, loving, caring & the BEST HUGGER ever. He will be so missed

A special thanks to Cowichan Bay Fire Dept & BC Ambulance Service for their quick response

A Celebration of Wilf's life will be held Saturday May 7th, 4:00, Somenos Community Hall, 3248 Cowichan Valley Hwy, Duncan.

You know life is strange and wondrous.
It was late and my mind (usually filled with thoughts of past and present),recalled Wilfred. So with technology what it is today…I decided to make a quick name search.
Sadly I found Wilfred, like I have found a few friends of the past.
So at this point I’d really just like to say I remember him quite fondly as the fastest runner with a most unique style. He proved to me(also very fast) that whether you’re pigeon- toed or straight-toed….it’s your heart that wins the race. Wilfred had heart, speed and a face that entirely smiled.
I went to Richmond Elementary School with him and obviously he left a positive & notable mark on my soul.
I never saw him again after Richmond, & went on to compete and represent Victoria, BC & Canada in sport. I never forgot Wilfred’s uncanny ability….he taught me to push myself.
I’m happy I got the chance to know Wilf, race with him and as a girl, try to leave an impression at Recess while on the football field …a place Wilfred ruled with a natural & gentle strength.

Kind regards to his family. My prayers tonight include you.
Debbie

PS: I wish I could see his face in the photo more clearly. I don’t have any of him. Just our school class photos, I’ll now be looking for.
