Wilbur Jack Ricord

March 25, 1945 - June 14, 2010

Tribute

RICORD – Jack (Wilbur) Ricord, beloved husband of Ottolene, and beloved father to Kyle and Kadon Ricord passed away peacefully at his residence in Duncan, BC on June 14th, 2010 at 65 years. Jack was born in Delhart, TX, March 25, 1945 and is survived by his two brothers, Mike and David Ricord, and loving sister, Linda Hoffman. Jack’s sense of humour and positive attitude was present in his courageous battle with cancer and few can remember him without smiling. His personable nature was endeared by clients, managers, and his colleagues of BBM Nielsen as well as friends and family. As a father, he was a constant support in such pursuits as concerts, sports and recreation for his children, and was a loving and caring husband for 42 years. For those saddened by his loss, Jack has rejoined his much loved and much missed daughter, Chandra, who passed away August 1997. His strength and conviction in losing a daughter, and those suffering an equal loss, was impassioned by the support of his grief group formed at the Rocky Mountain Hospital (Calgary), and also a book to be published in her memory. He is also predeceased by his parents Wilbur and Grace Ricord, brother Lee Ricord, mother in law Maxine Gast, and niece Theresa Schile.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Edward’s Church, 2085 Maple Bay Road, Duncan BC on Thursday June 17, 2010 at 3:30 p.m. Reverend Father Frank Franz celebrant. Online condolences may be offered at www.hwwallacecbc.com

Dear Ottolene, Kyle and Kadon

I am so very saddened that Jack lost his battle and I hope that his passing was peaceful. You are all very much in my thoughts. In life, there are 2 great honours. One is to witness the birth of new life coming into the world and the other is to be by someone’s side as they let go of life. You have honoured Jack by being by his side through his end of life journey and I admire your courage and the courage that he showed. My deepest sympathies to all of you
Pam

Dear Ottolene, Kyle and Kadon,

I have so many happy and fun memories of Jack. It is with much sadness that I write this to you. Please know you are all in my prayers.

Jack was an inspiration to we his co-workers at Nielsen/BBM. His jokes kept us going through many tough times and his get-to-it attitude was envied by many. Our lunches were always full of laughs and his caring and concern for each of us was something we all will remember. So many times he would call just to check in and see how I was doing. If I was down he always had words of encouragement and really seemed to care.

A number of years ago he wrote the “Nielsen Song” which he and Clayton and Cristian put together on tape. Many a laugh was had at our meetings and functions when that was played.

Jack started as a peer when we first started with Nielsen and went to Toronto for training way back in 2001. He very quickly became a good friend and stayed that way even when you guys moved to BC. He was a very special guy and will be sorely missed! I was so lucky to get to know you Ottolene and also you Kyle. You are a living tribute to your dad and I was so fortunate to get to know you too.

Please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of Jack. You are all in my heart!

Sincerely,
Sonja
