Wayne John Bruce

May 21, 1944 - November 1, 2020

Tribute

Wayne John Bruce, son of Gil and Marie Bruce, was born on May 21, 1944 in Victoria, B.C. and peacefully passed away on November 01, 2020 at Chartwell Malaspina Care Residence in Nanaimo, B.C.

Wayne grew up in Duncan, B.C. where he graduated from Cowichan High School.  After graduation he went on to be a Sheet Metal Mechanic at J.W. Griffiths Plumbing and Heating and eventually Fletcher Challenge in Crofton where he retired in 1999.

In 1970 Wayne married Berniece Flett and they lived in Cowichan Bay, B.C. and raised their only daughter, Stacey.  They enjoyed fishing, boating and beachcombing.

Wayne is also survived by two grandchildren, Jackson and Charlotte.

The family wishes to thank Sunridge Place, Chartwell Malaspina and CDH Staff for their loving care during Wayne’s stay with them.

At Wayne’s (and Covid) request there will not be a service.  If so desired, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Relation: Friend from the good old days!

Oh Berniece, I was so sorry to hear of Wayne’s passing. I remember the day you and Wayne got married at the Court House, then went for pictures down the street. I also remember something about someone putting confetti inside your car. I think the confetti was collected by my Dad from all the hole punches at the Court House! Even though I was just a kid, I have such good memories of Wayne and you. You know what they say, God only takes the best … and we can attest to that! My sincere love and condolences to you and your daughter. You are in my thoughts. Lots of hugs, Heather (Scott) Cameron, Chemainus, BC

Dear Berniece

Sorry to hear of Wayne’s passing…think of you both when we would pass through Cowichan Bay. When Norm was still alive he would speak fondly of the fun times he had with Wayne through the years and the friendship they shared.

Hold your memories close

Take care

Sue
