Victoria Margaret Brooks

March 18, 1931 - October 7, 2023

Tribute

On Saturday morning, October 7th, Mom passed away peacefully at home in Lake Cowichan at the age of 92.  She is now back in the arms of her Love, Norm.

Victoria Margaret Brooks was born in Punnichy Saskatchewan on March 18th, 1931. The Siska family eventually moved to Argyle Manitoba, where Mom and her 11 brothers and sisters helped work the farm.

She met the Love of her life Norman in 1958, when he was serving in the CAF and Mom was working at the Winnipeg telephone company and living in a rooming house. She didn’t like him at first, but he eventually won her over. They got married in 1960, and moved to Duncan, BC.

Mom and Dad had a great life, they were both very social and had many friends. They were also a huge part of the Lake Cowichan Water Ski Club, which is now Point Ideal. Many fun times and parties happened over the summers at the Ski Club. Mom always played the guitar and sang around the campfire with Dad on the scrub board.

Mom and Dad owned Tipton’s Gas Bar for over 20 years. It was a very popular spot to get gas, a good rumor and have an afternoon visit with the Norm crew. Mom was such an amazing bookkeeper and ran a tight ship. She was an even more amazingly patient wife when it came to the running of the Gas Bar.

Vicki loved to sew, cook, bake, clean and drink Brandy. She believed a shot of brandy would cure anything! There was always a bottle stashed somewhere in the cupboard.

She is pre-deceased by her loving husband Norman, her parents (George and Mary), 10 of her 11 siblings, her parents in law (Jack and Tot) and son in law (Keith).

Mom leaves behind her son Tony (Debbie), daughter Lisa (Kerry), her four Granddaughters; Terra and Kayla (Tony), Victoria and Hannah (Lisa), her brother Ralph (Joan) as well as many nieces and nephews, and several friends.

Vicki lived a full life. She was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Sister, Daughter, Daughter in law, and Friend. She was a beautiful lady with a more beautiful smile! She will always be remembered for her Love and dedication to her family. Mom was always there for us.

She is, and will be missed, terribly.

Celebration of Life for Vicki will be held upstairs at the Lake Cowichan Legion Branch 210, October 29th at 1 pm.
