Thomas Tams
December 6, 1943 - January 14, 2023
Tribute
Thomas, beloved husband of Ann, passed away on January 14th at the age of 79 losing his valiant battle with Cancer. “Tom” was the loving and devoted father to Tom Tams (Angela) of Duncan, Lynette Clarke (Vito) of Duncan, and Teresa Battista (Phil) of Coquitlam. He will be dearly missed by his 8 grandchildren, Anthony Hurst, Ashton & Sara Wyllie, Kristina Tams, Noah & Isabella Battista, Tiana & Logan Clarke, and Great-Grandson Keenan. Tom will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Miriam, many family members and friends.
Tom was born on Dec 6, 1943 in Victoria, BC to parents, Thomas & Violet. At the age of 3 the family moved to Courtenay, BC where he grew up. Graduating from Courtenay High School in 1962 Tom went on to work for the BC Department of Highways Location Branch from 1965 – 1970. On August 6, 1966 Tom married the love of his life, Ann and in 1968 they were blessed with their first child, Thomas. The demands of moving locations had Tom and Ann settling down and making their home in Duncan, BC in 1970 where Tom took a job for BCFP, Crofton Pulp Mill. Tom and Ann were blessed with 2 more children, Lynette and Teresa. As a Scout Leader he enjoyed taking the boys backpacking and camping. He looked forward to many family camping trips over the years and his fishing trips out to Port Renfrew with friends. Tom retired in 2005 and finally lived his dream of restoring old cars and travelling across Canada with Ann by his side. He was a Past W.M of Temple Lodge #33 and Past D.D.G.M. and loved his brethren. He was a proud member of Sunset Chapter #44 O.E.S and the Vintage Car Club of Canada, Duncan and Victoria Chapters. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the staff at Cowichan Hospice House for the loving care they provided to Tom in his final days.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, January 27th, 2:00pm at H.W. Wallace Cremation & Burial Centre, 5285 Polkey Rd, Duncan, BC.
