Thomas James Kay

January 19, 1991 - January 20, 2025

Tribute

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Thomas James Kay, a brilliant and vibrant young man whose life left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Born on January 19, 1991, Thomas grew into an exceptional individual, showcasing remarkable intellect, creativity, and athleticism.

Thomas’s academic prowess earned him a grade skip and later, the title of valedictorian. Music was another passion that burned brightly in his heart. As the frontman of D-Grade, he recorded a CD and entertained countless fans with his infectious energy and charisma. His adventurous spirit led him to explore the world, creating unforgettable memories.

A talented athlete, Thomas earned numerous accolades, including being named Athlete of the Year at Cowichan Senior Secondary in 2008. He also earned a spot on Rugby Canada’s U17 team. He was also a trivia buff and music aficionado, impressing friends and family with his vast knowledge.

Thomas’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his loving parents, Paul and Shelley; brothers Sean (Whitney) and Patrick (Shae); and his adoring nephews, Henry and Weston. His soon-to-arrive niece will sadly miss out on knowing him.

Though Thomas’s life was brief, his impact was immense. His enthusiasm, generosity, and talents inspired countless individuals. As we mourn his loss, we find comfort in the memories we shared with him. Thomas, your legacy will live on in our hearts forever.

Rest in peace, dear Thomas. Your music, laughter, and love will never be forgotten.❤️

Shelley, Paul and boys, we are so sorry to hear this sad news.
I remember Thomas as a young boy at Drinkwater; so enthusiastic, always pushing himself to try new endeavours and usually mastering whatever he tried.
A kind, talented boy with unlimited potential.
Shelley and Paul, you were wonderful parents, always there for Thomas, supporting him in many different ways.
May you find comfort and peace in time.

From: Carol

Paul, I’ve heard great stories about Thomas in his youth, and I’ll miss seeing him out enjoying the sun in our neighbourhood, with Charlie the cat by his side. Big hugs and warm wishes from me and Gary.
