Terrance John Doherty

Tribute
Terrance (Terry) John Doherty passed away on February 25th 2024 at the Campbell River Hospital in British Columbia, not far from his home in Sayward. Terry was 64, born in Toronto on September 20th 1959. Predeceased by his mom and dad, Marie Victorian Doherty (McCormac) and Walter Jerome Doherty.
His brother Paul, his sisters, Carol Mulley and Maureen Doherty Nielsen, and his daughter Marie were with him during his hospital stay. Although very sick, Terry remained happy and was full of jokes. Terry was very social and made many friends throughout his life. He will be missed by his partner Rebecca and his friends on the island and in Ontario. He loved the outdoors and animals and cherished his “up” island walks. Growing up Terry loved fishing in New Brunswick, playing hockey and playing baseball. Terry was very industrious, he worked as a computer operator with Canada Trust and Consumers Gas before buying property and building houses. He built two houses in London and one in Cowichan Bay. Terry treasured his daughter Marie, his ultimate pride.
Terry was buried on March 1st at the Mountain View Cemetery in North Cowichan. There was a small memorial for him attended by his sisters and brother, his cousin Nadine Kyle, Marie’s mom Joanne Doherty (Scholtens), Marie, Paul’s son Daniel, Carol’s son Brian and Maureen’s daughter Claire.
