Sylvia (Sylvie) Mary Brown
December 17, 1935 - May 3, 2025
Tribute
On a very windy day in May, Sylvie’s family said their last goodbyes and sent her on her way. Left to mourn are her children Jeremy (Shelley) and Nicky (Mark) and grandson Matthew (Sam). She was predeceased by her loving husband Stephen Brown in 2014.
Sylvie’s early years were fraught with poverty and hardship, but she always had a twinkle in her eye and a mischievous wit – always on the lookout for someone to tease and someone who could tease her back. If they were English like her, all the better!
Never one to sit still long, she was always on the hunt for friends to visit with – whether they were old friends or someone she had just met. She was also happiest in her garden with her cup of tea and her birds. Sylvie always had room in her heart to love each and every dog she met.
Thank you to special long time friends Linda and Marie. You brought so much joy to our Mother’s life and she knew she could always count on you to go for lunch, play games or just shoot the breeze. Also big thanks to the Gordon Head Lawn Bowling Club and her pool friends at the Gordon Head Rec Center who welcomed her into their groups with open arms.
A big shout out to Royal Jubilee hospital to the wonderful staff who took care of our Mum during her final hours. Your care and compassion was outstanding.
For those wishing to make a financial contribution in honor of Sylvie’s life, please consider donating to a charity or your choice especially if it has to do with animals.
Celebration of Life to follow at a later date.

Dear family of Sylvie. I am one of Sylvie’s pool friends. We all liked her from the moment we met. She was a perfect fit for us. She was so full of fun and energy ! I am still in shock at her loss. Her presence is really missed. I will be very happy to make a donation in her name to the Shelbourne community kitchen. We support that Charity year round and sometimes put some change in the jar at our coffee table. We have good treats at our coffee table so so anything we collect goes to the Shelbourne kitchen. I think Sylvie would like that. Please join us for coffee if you ever have the time or inclination. Sincerely Mavis

I knew Sylvie for 5 short months and yet she left a BIG impression on me. She was like family and a mother and she did indeed have a twinkle in her eyes. I was very saddened to see she had passed but I know she was tired and now she can fly. Peace to you Sylvie, and to the family and especially Matthew who I often hosted at the Victorian for dinners with his Grandma. She will happily be walking in the gardens above with her doggie. Go placidly amidst the noise and haste…..
