Svend Weile Clausen was born in Ølgod, Denmark on Sept 18th, 1930. He Passed away peacefully in Cairnsmore Hospital on Jan 11, 2019 at the age of 88. Predeceased by daughter Lise and wife Inge. He will be greatly missed by daughter Susan (Kevin), son Rolf (Ceilidh), stepson Neils (Debbie), stepdaughter Lisa (Rob), grandchildren Kelly, Jeffrey, Ayla, Finn and great grandchildren Nolan, Annika, Dailynn and Eperly.
Son of Ludolf and Petra Clausen, he grew up on his parents farm in Ølgod, Denmark. After spending time in the Danish military, he immigrated to Canada in 1957 and got a forestry job in Calgary. He then transferred to Caycuse in Lake Cowichan as a tree planter, of which he had many fond stories. He then was hired at the Crofton mill as a caterpillar driver and crane operator until his retirement at age 65. Post retirement, he continued to enjoy the company of his beloved wife, his dog, puttering around the house, and the acquired taste of Danish Aquavit.
Svend was a very kind and jovial man, who will be truly missed by all those who knew him.
A graveside service will be held at Mountainview Cemetery on Jan 18th at 1PM.
