Tribute
Suzanne Olsten passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026 at Cowichan Hospice. Born in Montreal on July 24, 1940, Suzanne shared 58 beautiful years of marriage with her husband, James. Together, they raised their family on the East Coast before relocating to Vancouver Island in 1996. Suzanne was a talented artist, an active community volunteer, an avid animal lover, and a devoted family woman. She was predeceased by her loving son Daniel (Vivian). She is lovingly remembered by her husband, James; children, Cindygail, Wayne (Nikkie) and Chris (Anne); and her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Cowichan Hospice House.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Sue was such a special person, and I feel very fortunate to have known her over the years.
She was such a good friend to my mom. I remember the many hours they spent here at the house playing cards, sharing stories, and laughing together, as well as the times they went to the Legion. I also loved listening to her stories about her life. She had such a wonderful, quirky personality and a way of looking at life that was uniquely her own. She could laugh at things, take life in stride, and somehow make you smile along with her.
She was a genuinely good human being, and I know she will leave a very special emptiness in the lives of those who knew and loved her. I hope, in time, that the memories of all those little moments—the laughter, the stories, and the time spent together—bring you some comfort.
My thoughts are with you and your family. She will certainly be missed.
