Stephen Alfred Ludvigson
August 10, 1952 - August 6, 2025
Tribute
In loving memory
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Steve Ludvigson on August 6, 2025, just four days before his 73rd birthday. Steve was born on August 10, 1952 in Duncan, B.C. at Kings Daughters Hospital.
Steve is lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Debbie and their sons Chris, Matt (Kim) and Reid (Adrienne), as well as daughter-in-law Candice Ludvigson. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Evan, Bradley, Aubrey, Tucker, and Rilynn.
He is also survived by his sister Darlene Savard (Rob), brother Doug Ludvigson (Nelda), brother-in-law Robert Alcock (Sonya), sister-in-law Janice Gallaugher (Bob), mother and father-in-law Hazel and Wes Alcock and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. Steve was pre-deceased by his parents, Vic and Joan Ludvigson.
For the past five years, Steve faced significant health challenges with quiet courage and resilience. While his journey was not easy, he has now found peace and rest – leaving behind his worn-out body and mind.
Steve worked for more than 20 years at the Crofton pulp mill, where he was known for his strong work ethic and steady presence. He had a lifelong love of sports, playing football for the Cowichan Timbermen and the Victoria Dolphins, fastball with the Dogpatch team, hockey and many years of coaching kids sports.
He also loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with family and friends – times filled with laughter, storytelling and shared tradition.
Above all, Steve was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. His quiet strength, integrity, and sense of humour will be remembered and cherished always.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held on August 17, 2025, at the Duncan Community Lodge, (Moose Lodge) from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. All who knew him are warmly invited to attend and share memories.
How lucky we were to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.
