From: Anne (Quelch) Stojke and Judith (Archbold) Boerger
Relation: friends since elementary at Fleetwood School

I remember being in Grade Five when Star moved into Lethbridge across the street from Fleetwood School. She took me home to meet her Mom, Beulah, Dad, Wally and brother Monty. She made many friends with girls in our neighborhood and we spent most of the next seven years growing up together, walking to Hamilton Jr. High and L.C.I. for our high school years. We had a lot of
fun from which I’ve thought about over the years. Everyone we knew then had a fondness for Star. She visited us in Brooks in 1977 with her three girls. We could talk to each other as though no time had passed. Never enough time to catch up on things to share.
I am deeply sad she is gone, but can smile because she was part of my life and
memories.
Judith was one of Star’s friends during our growing-up years and the two of them went to Calgary at the same time to take a nursing aid course. They lived in Pincher Creek and Medicine Hat for their practicums.
Judith was incredulous when I told her of Star’s passing and we shared memories which made us think how special those childhood friendships are as we get older.
Judith and I send our sincere condolences to Star’s family.
