Shirley Ann Millar

August 14, 1931 - October 12, 2018

Tribute

Shirley Ann Millar – born to Billy and Margaret Farmer on August 14, 1931 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  Beloved Mother to Lynda, Mark and Leigh.  Mother in law to Howard, Georgina and Chris.  Grandma Sam to Nicole, Nic, Coley, Keshia, Keith, Garret and Hanna.  Great Grandma Sam to Tyra, Lexis and Sadie.  Former spouse, Ian Millar (1955 – 1975). Our Mom was a special lady, who held incredible strength in the face of difficult health challenges.  Fondly referred to as the Energizer Bunny, she would pick herself up and keep on going with dignity and humour, most especially humour.  Mom loved to bowl, paint, knit, sculpt and draw like a pro.  She loved coming up with a great poem for a special occasion.  She loved the sunshine…loved her wine….and loved enjoying both with any and all of the people that were in her life, most notably her Happy Hour friends.  Our Mom, our Rock, truly loved by so many.  Deeply missed.  A gracious thank you to Dr. Pullan for her care.  We leave her to watch over us.

I am truly sorry for the loss of your mom. She truly had a strong will and mind an example to be cherished. As Shirley leaves this physical world she leaves behind a lot of memories that will always warm your heart and mind. May her spirit fly as free as the birds in the sky.

Relation: Friend

Leigh, Lynda and Mark,

What a special person your Mom was. We had so many good times. Shirley always welcomed us into her home; and, she sincerely welcomed us.

Lynda, I often think of the time – Shirley was visiting you in Fort McMurray and you brought her to our home, a 4 hour drive, one way – for lunch.

We have a lovely scenery painting Shirley gave to us when we left the Grove.

I feel so privileged to be able to call her My Friend.

Sincere condolences to survivors. We sure did have some great and fun times with Shirley. I recall a Thanksgiving or Christmas get together when she made me laugh so hard my face hurt. She’ll be missed. I’ll see you at the patio on the other side, Shirley. Keep the drinks cool for me.

From: Jayne Ward
Relation: My brother Chris is married to Shirley’s daughter Leigh

A Mother is the most expensive being on earth. No one and nothing can fill the void created by the loss of your dear Mom.
Gonna miss you Shirl.
Love Jayne xx
