Shirley Hazel Symes

Tribute
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Symes, at the age of 92. Shirley was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and moved to Prince Rupert as a young child. In 1950, at the age of 19, Shirley married Frank, the love of her life. In 1973 Frank and Shirley moved with the youngest boys from Prince Rupert to Duncan, where they continued to raise their family and became involved in the community.
Shirley enjoyed babysitting at Mother’s Morning Out and walking with the Heart & Stroke Walking Club. She also enjoyed curling, camping, square dancing, gardening and most of all, spending time with her family.
Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is predeceased by her caring husband of 71 years, Frank, son Robert and grandson Connor. She will be missed by her sons David, Donald (Elan), Steven (Corrine) and daughter-in-law Marjorie; her grandchildren Scott (Meg), Gavin (Kristy), Courtney, Amy and Shayla; and her 5 great-grandchildren. She will also be remembered by her sister Pat, her extended family, and many good friends.
No service by request. A donation to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
