Shirley was born in Comox, BC and was a long time residence in the Cowichan Valley, she resided in Genoa Bay. She was predeceased parents Harry and Doris Bugg and son Dwayne Berg. She was very well known in the Cowichan Valley and will be missed by many.

I am sorry to hear of Shirley’s passing on a recent visit to Genoa Bay. My parents and I had met Shirley by chance while driving around Genoa Bay. In the 1970’s my parents were given a doll house that was made in Maple Bay. We were curious about the area that it originated from. Driving around the area, we met Shirley in her cul-de-sac in Genoa Bay. She was intrigued about the doll house and offered to help find a home for it. We brought her the doll house next time my parents were in town. We kept in touch at Christmas over the following years. We were struck by Shirley’s hospitality and friendliness from the start. Rest in peace Shirley.

I knew Shirley when I was a child, She was a joyful happy person both inside and out. A living DOLL! Generous to a fault! She will be missed by many I’m sure especially her family,
beloved son Dwayne, daughter Sherri, Sasha, Nick?, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her many many dear friends from all over the planet.
My sincere best wishes to everyone that knew her because she was a diamond in the ruff.
