Sheila Flynn
April 30, 1946 - January 28, 2017
Tribute
The Reverend Sheila Jean Flynn (70), of Chemainus BC, passed away peacefully in her sleep, at home in the early morning of January 28, 2017.
She was born, April 30, 1946 in England to the late Stan and Grace Ade. Sheila is predeceased by her loving husband the Reverend John Flynn, and by her infant daughter Catherine Jane.
Left behind to celebrate her life and mourn her death, her daughter Jane (Carter) Marshall, their children, Lane, Kendra, and Taylor. Her son John (Jolene) Rogers, their children, Madisyn, Jadyn, and Jaxon. Her stepsons Sean Flynn, and his children Ruth, and Sean, and Stephen (Laura) Flynn and their daughter Gillian. She will also be missed by many dear friends and neighbors.
Sheila attended the University of Manitoba; she later continued on with her education attending Luther College in Regina, and then graduating from the College of Emmanuel and St. Chad with a Doctorate in Theology. She was ordained a priest in the Anglican Church in 1990.
Sheila had many roles in life as a women, grandmother, wife, mother, daughter, student, teacher, volunteer, priest, artist, counsellor, survivor, mentor, chaplain, and friend.
Sheila moved from the prairies to BC and truly loved life on the coast. John retired to BC and with her husband by her side, they enjoyed the ocean views, the beaches and times with their orange kitties. She was proud to have served in the Canadian Axillary Coast Guard, and enjoyed hiking camping and kayaking along the ocean shorelines with her many friends, and family. Sheila recently took up beading as a hobby and was able to create beautiful jewelry pieces that many people will enjoy for years to come. She also found tremendous joy, getting to know and watching her “grandchickies” play and explore their world around them. She loved them so much, and they too loved her.
A Celebration of Sheila’s life will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 1:00pm, at St Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, 2858 Mill Street in Chemainus BC.
