Shauna Lynn Klassen (Fitzpatrick)

April 6, 1979 - June 30, 2019

Tribute

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our sweet girl, after a very lengthy illness.

Shauna was a life long resident of the Cowichan Valley. She was a gentle, caring wife and mother.  She loved life and took every opportunity to seize the day.  Some of the experiences she enjoyed most included cheering on the Cowichan Valley Thunder Lacrosse teams, volunteering at the Hospital Auxiliaries Thrift Store (HATS), Dragon boating, relaxing at the cabin in Caycuse, and spending time with supportive friends and family.

Shauna was predeceased by her maternal Grandparents Dr. and Mrs. JJ Morrow of Lake Cowichan, BC.  She will be fondly remembered and loved by Husband Kyle and Son Adam Klassen, Parents Doug & Lynn Fitzpatrick, Grandparents Bev & Hank Fitzpatrick, Sister Megan Fraser (Mark), Nephew Evan, Niece Lindyn, In laws Dale & Neva Klassen, In laws Vivian & Glen McDonald, Brother in law Patrick Klassen and Stepdaughter Jamie Brenton (Adam)

We would like to extend our gratitude to the many Doctors and Health Care providers who crossed Shauna’s path, namely Dr. Masuda, Dr. Dewar, Dr. Shaipanich, Dr. Anderson, Dr. Scudamore, Dr. Huk, and Dr. Moulaison. Also, a heartfelt thank you to all of the friends and family who have offered support over the years.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 1:00pm on Saturday August 10th, 2019 at the Ramada Inn, 140 Trans-Canada Hwy, Duncan BC.  Please bring your best written memories of Shauna to leave as a contribution towards a family keepsake.  In lieu of flowers please support the Terry Fox Foundation (terryfox.org) or the Fibrolamellar Cancer Foundation (fibrofoundation.org)

My heartfelt condolences to all of your family. Adam, I am especially holding you close to my heart as you grieve the loss of your beautiful Mom. You have walked this path with her for years and have been so courageous and strong. I hope you feel supported and find peace in the loving care of family and friends.

‘‘Tis a fearful thing to love what death can touch
To love, to hope, to dream, and oh, to lose.
A thing for fools, this Love, but a holy thing,
To love what death can touch.
For your life has lived in me;
Your laugh once lifted me;
Your word was a gift to me.
To remember this brings painful joy.
Tis a human thing, love, a holy thing,
To love what death can touch.

We had such a wonderful at the corner just prior to Shauna passing. She was upbeat and enjoying the sun and her outlying with Kyle and the dog. To my friend Megan, Kyle and Adam we are so saddened by your loss. Keep the good memories close to your hearts.

Relation: Neighbors

I miss seeing you walking the dog past my house and trying to have a friendly chat as our dogs are frantically pulling on the leash to get going and our almost daily waves and smiles to each other as I drove past your house to mine. I miss those little joys of Life! Condolences to the whole family and especially to Adam.

May the memories held deep within your heart help to soothe your spirit during this sad time. Our family will remember our wonderful times with Shawna, during her teenage years, trips to Port Renfrew and boating in the Gulf Islands. She was a joy to be with. A very special lady in our treasure chest of memories. Sincerely with deepest sympathy, Marj and Ferd Kallstrom and family.

Dear Adam. I enjoyed teaching you music at Bench Elementary many years ago. Your Mum was always at the school helping in any way she could and being there to be closer to you. We all loved her and she certainly loved you! I could not be at your Mum’s Celebration of Life but would like to pass on my sincere condolences to you and your family.
