Sharlene Anne Ball

July 11, 1959 - March 14, 2022

Tribute

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sharlene Anne Ball (nee Dillabaugh). Sharlene was born in Duncan on Vancouver Island to Earl and Jessie Dillabaugh. She attended school in Duncan where she met and married her husband Glenn in 1979. In 1980 Glenn transferred to MacKenzie, BC where they lived for 29 years. Sharlene worked in many service jobs such as bartending, hotels and management throughout her career.

In Mackenzie, Sharlene enjoyed fishing and camping with her friends. She was also an avid bowler and participated in many tournaments in the northern communities. Sharlene was always there for family and friends; if they needed something, she was there to support and help them out. She was known for speaking her mind and if you didn’t like it she would say “well that’s just the way it is.”

Glenn and Sharlene moved home to Duncan 13 years ago. Sharlene re-connected with her family and began working for the CVI as head of housekeeping. In the past few years, Sharlene spent many weekends camping with her brother Spence and his wife Ursula and her friend Laurie. She loved to laugh and had a very quick wit. Sharlene should be remembered as a person who had a very big heart, who loved to joke around and was the life of every party that she attended.

Sharlene is survived by her husband Glenn, their fur-babies Zoey and Joey who she loved deeply. She also leaves behind her siblings Conway, Derek (Lynn), Earl, Vern (Debbie), Denise (Dan), Spence (Ursula), Kelvin (Allison), Tory (Mary Lynn), Carolyn (Lorne) and many nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to family and friends and the hospital staff on the 3rd floor at CDH for making her final stay comfortable.

When I first met rob He was actually supposed to be moving to McKenzie to your house , sorry Shar .. you were one of the many family members he always talked about and I feared meeting hahaha. We met over music and a drink in our back yard we became fast friends. So many laughs!! I enjoyed every minute of time shared with you…. Camping, bowling, card games, music, dancing (you let me lead lol). Our annual park party, and our Xmas Eve dinner deliveries we did. I will forever hear your laugh, and yelling out piss-off when I knocked on your door. My heart is heavy having lost you too soon, I cry still… and then I hear you calling me a loser, and smile. I’m watching over Glenn and zoey and Joey and hug them all for you. I miss you so much my friend, you live forever in my heart 💔 you were a tough cookie, with a marshmallow heart.
