Sandra McClain (Shippy) of Duncan, B.C. passed away peacefully at the Chemainus Care Centre on Friday May 24th, 2024, at the age of 84.
Sandra is survived by her husband Gordon McClain, 3 children Mony (Alana), Karen (Mark Mercer), Shawna (Terry Olteanu). Grandchildren Kathryn (Aaron Corliss), Danielle (Scott Erickson), Daegan Mercer, Riley Mercer, Felicia Olteanu, Craig Olteanu (Devra Dutton). As well as her Great Grandchildren Shirelle, Grady, Phoenix Erickson & Gryffyn, Xander and Ryker Corliss. Extended family, Darlene Corlazzoli (McLaren) and her 3 daughters Darcelle, Rhianna, Tamiko.
Sandra was born June 4th, 1939, in Edmonton, AB. She Married the love of her life Gordon McClain on February 14th, 1959. They lived in numerous places, Raymond, AB , Whitehorse, Yukon and spent many years throughout Jasper National park and Pacific Rim National Park where they both worked for Parks Canada. When they retired, they made their home in Duncan, B.C.
Sandra had many talents. She loved sewing, crocheting, knitting, doing cross stitch and especially loved gardening. Sandra would spend hours reading until her sight diminished. She was a master of kitchen gadgets. If they made it, she had it. Sandra especially loved looking after her 2 Grandsons Daegan & Riley while they were growing up.
Throughout their many travels Sandra & Gordon have made many lifetime friends that are considered extended family.
A special Thank You goes out to the Chemainus Care Centre staff for the care, love, and support over the last two years for Sandra McClain.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the H.W. Wallace Cremation & Burial Centre Chapel.

On Sunday August 4th, 2024 at 2pm. Laura-Lee Parris Officiating. Luncheon will follow service.
There will be no graveside service. In Lieu of Flowers please Donate to the Alzheimer’s Society of B.C.
