Russell Joseph Roux

February 3, 1950 - February 24, 2024

Tribute

A very loved husband, father and grandpa, Russell Roux passed away on Saturday, February 24th, 2024, after a very stoic and brave fight against stomach cancer. He passed peacefully but leaves a very big piece of our family missing. Predeceased by his parents, Saul and Lenora (Felker), and his oldest sister Darlene, Russell is survived by his sisters Vernita and Margaret and brothers Danny, Victor, Ricky, Darcy and Tim.

He is also survived by his wife, Linda Aurise Roux (Tremblay), his sons Scott Roux and Tony Rivet, his daughter Christy Palmer (Rivet), his granddaughters Ryan Rivet and Dylan Rivet and his grandson Carson Palmer.

Born on February 3rd, 1950, in Three Hills Alberta, Russell was raised during his formative years in Oliver, BC. At the age of 17 he joined the Army branch of the Canadian Armed Forces where he proudly served for 26 years. He made many friends along the way and was fortunate to see Canada and Europe through his postings including: Shilo (MB), Comox (BC), Ottawa (ON), Falconbridge (ON), Lahr (Germany) and Vancouver (BC). He also served in Cyprus (Europe) in 1982 as part of a UN Peacekeeping force. He retired from his military career and rank as Sargent in 1993 and enjoyed a second career as a manager with Walmart Canada, working in both Kelowna and Duncan. Forever ‘the Sarge’ he was appreciated and respected by his peers and co-workers.

Russell had a passion for sports including lacrosse, golf and fishing but he particularly loved watching his grandson Carson play minor hockey for the Cowichan Capitals and of course his beloved Montreal Canadians NHL hockey team!

He will be remembered for his infectious smile and loyal, kind-hearted personality. For his love of Sunday morning crosswords, his appreciation of classic rock music – especially his favorite band The Eagles and for cooking his famous breakfasts and spaghetti sauce.

We will love you forever and will cherish all the memories that you made with us.

Details for a celebration of life to be held later this year will be shared once available.
