Ross Harold Hamilton Avery

November 29, 1938 - May 4, 2025

Tribute

With his loving wife Joan by his side, Ross Avery of Duncan BC and previously of Portland Ontario, passed away peacefully on May 4th, 2025. Beloved dad of Nicole (Robert Buck) of Dunedin New Zealand and C. R. (Gillian) of Vancouver BC, and grandfather of Dawn Avery. Cherished uncle of Debra Bouskill (Dale) and Roger Mathers and Bryan Avery. Much loved great uncle of Stephanie and Blair Bouskill. Predeceased by his parents William and Evelyn, siblings Margaret Mathers and Sam Avery (Pat) and nephew Billy.

Ross spent over 35 years as a project/construction supervisor for the engineering department of the Ontario Ministry of Transportation. He began his supervisory responsibilities with the construction of certain new sections of Highway 401 between Gananoque and Brockville and ended his career connecting Highway 416 into Ottawa. His children, great nephew and niece and his granddaughter were the joy of his life watching and guiding them not only to achieve their dreams but to grow into compassionate and caring human beings.  In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please make donations to nourishcowichan.ca or the Canadian Cancer Society, donate.cancer.ca

H.W. Wallace Cremation & Burial Centre staff send our condolences to family and friends.

From: Jane (Foster) Gray
Relation: Mr.Avery’s wife and I were friends and neighbours, growing up in Delta

Dear Joan, I am so sorry for your loss of your husband Ross. It’s been a long time since we have spoken, after drifting apart. I had no idea you were out west. I lost my husband Fred 11 years ago. I often thought about us as teenagers you and me and Beth swimming at the Millstream and laying in the sun. And then off to high school and everything got separated. My sincere condolences to you and I hope you’re getting along OK. Take it from me. It’s never easy, but it will get better, Jane (foster) gray
