Ronald Anderson
June 16, 1949 - December 3, 2014
Tribute
It is with profound sadness that we announce the
peaceful passing of Ron on December 3, 2014. He
was surrounded by his family, after a courageous
battle with cancer.
Ron is survived by his loving and devoted wife
of 43 years, Mona; son Ian (Kelli−Ann) and
daughter Kyla (Michael) Bridge; three cherished
grandchildren, Alexis, Birkley and Tyson; his
siblings, Carolyn (Kelvin) Rasmussen, Gary
(Deanna), and Sharon (Mike) Anderson; and a large
extended family.
Ron was born June 16, 1949 in Duncan, B.C. to
Ernest and Dolores Anderson, and he grew up on
Gibbins Road with family and life−long
neighbourhood friends Reg, Dan & Ken. Entering
the work force at a young age at the Youbou
Sawmill, Ron’s tenacious work ethic led to a trade
in saw filing in various Cowichan Valley mills, and he
officially retired from the WFP Cowichan Bay
Sawmill earlier this year. Ron proudly operated his
own saw filing company, C & R Saw Repairs, that
was founded with his close friend Clark Sayers.
Throughout the years Ron played a variety of
sports including soccer, hockey and golf, in
addition to practicing Judo & Karate. His true
passion was playing baseball and fastball as a
first baseman.
A doting husband, father & grandfather, Ron
enjoyed many happy summers at Lake Cowichan
and traveling to Waikiki to soak up the sun and
enjoy the beaches. His loss has left a huge void in
the lives of his family, friends and co−workers. We
will carry forever his spirit in our hearts and minds.
The family wishes to thank Dr. B. Rudston−Brown
and Dr. N. Robertson for their kind and
compassionate care of Ron during these last few
months of his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am on
Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Arbutus Ridge
Golf and Country Club.
In lieu of flowers, donations, in memory of Ron, may
be made to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.
