Rodney Mackinnon

Tribute
Rodney was born on February 11, 1979 in New Westminster, BC to his parents Debby and Greg Mackinnon. He went missing in the Lake Cowichan forest area on May 1, 2014 and was found May 22, 2014. Sadly he had passed away during that time.
He is survived by his mother Debby (Lee Nickel), his sisters Nicole (Jonathan) Doucet and Casey and his brother Clayton as well as his stepsister Hailey (Shayne) and stepbrother Weylin (Jessica). Rodney will also be missed by his grandparents Marilyn and the late Allen Mackinnon and Ken and Bernice Skramstad. Many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family are also mourning our loss.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Centennial Hall, 309 S Shore, Lake Cowichan, on Saturday, May 31 at 2:30 PM. .

Rod you are the most amazing, talented big brother a sister could ever ask for. The way you looked at life with such beauty seeing the finest detail. I only wish I could have one more big brother hug. I know you would want me to be happy. Even in a time like this I can hear you saying “please don’t cry sis”. I miss you Rod, I always will! You will forever be in my heart, and in memories and stories you will live on. I know how much you loved me and my family. Till we meet again. Goodbye.

Rod had such an amazing strength and determination in him. His art, writing and photography spokes volumes as to who he was and how he saw the world. I wish we all had a little more of that and a lot more time with him. I am selfishly thankful for so many random memories and years upon years of knowing him. He blessed my life, my writing and my views in unmeasurable ways. He was an amazing gift to have walk into your life and one that will never ever be forgotten. Rod had a smile and gentleness that enveloped the whole room you were in, it madness me smile just thinking of it.
