MATTIN: Robert John

With sadness we announce the passing of Bob Mattin peacefully in his sleep on Friday July 3, 2009. Born to Mabel and Harry Mattin on December 16, 1924 in Duncan, where he was raised on the family farm on Riverside Road, Cowichan Station. Bob was predeceased by his parents, his eldest daughter Roberta Dinham (2005), grandson David Dinham (2002), sister Bonny Klettke (1994), brother in law Dick Klettke (2008), brothers Ron Mattin (2001) and Pete Mattin (2009).

Bob leaves behind his wife of 41 years Maralyn, sons Ken (Ev), Butch, Tom (Lori), daughters Roxanne Thorarinson, Karleen (Brian) Evans, Terri Dame, Debbie (Joe) Hooper, Dona (Cam Garland) Cinkant, and Dianne; brother Bill (Dorothy), sisters in law Carol Mattin, and Lavonne Mattin, 18 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Bob was a member of F.O. Eagles Aerie 2101 in Ladysmith. He loved his yearly fishing weekend with friends from Honeymoon Bay Resort and traveling to Yuma, Arizona in the winters until his health prevented him from doing so for the past several years.

I was looking through old photos and came across a picture of Butch so went on-line and discovered to my sorrow that both Uncle Bob and Butch have embarked on a journey that we will all join them in as time passes.
I have amazing memories of Uncle Bobs twinkling eyes and terrific humour. To all the Mattin clan please accept my most heartfelt condolences and know that ishare the sadness of your loss.
Your distant “cousin” Derek Jackson
