Tribute

Gersthofer, Robert June 18, 1954 – January 31, 2010. Passed away after a brief, second, courageous battle with Cancer. Bob will be incredibly missed by his loving friend and wife, Glenda of 33 years. He will also be terribly missed by his son Shaun 19, who he was so proud of. They shared their love of music by listening to Bob’s old, large collection of records or by listening to Shaun play his guitar and drums right to the end. During his life and illness Bob was especially touched by his caring friends. Warren and Diane, Roseanne and Bill, Marie and Charlie and Bonnie and Bill provided unrelenting support and friendship during his very difficult time. He will be missed by his many other friends and nieces and nephews. We would like to thank all the staff at Cowichan District Hospital and Home Nursing for their exceptional and special care of Bob. Also a very special thank you to Dr. Murray Woods for his dedication to Bob’s health. Bob has always credited Dr. Woods for saving his life with his first battle with Cancer in 1998. Bob was a very talented man with a great sense of humor and courage despite all his health challenges. He was an amazing soap stone carver and pursued his dream of building an Endurance 35’ sailboat in Prince George which we brought to Victoria in 1987. He loved sailing. His final project was a rebuild of a 100 year old house. Bob had a career as a Power Engineer which he enjoyed and spent his final years of work at Victoria General Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday February 7th at 2760 Lowery Road in Duncan from 1-4p.m. Love Glenda and Shaun
