Robert Laurent Cloutier (1963–2025) —known to the world as “Bob” and to his inner circle as the legendary “Bullshit Bob”—passed away in Duncan, BC, on December 24, 2025, at the age of 62.

A true “diamond in the rough,” Bob lived life entirely on his own terms. Whether he was leaning over a fence to share a laugh or offering to fix a neighbor’s broken hinge, Bob was a constant, comforting presence. He was a storyteller at heart, spinning yarns that were usually truer than not, always using humor to bridge the gap between strangers and friends.

Bob’s roots were in Pine Point, where he spent his youth fishing, hunting, and trapping. After moving to Vancouver Island over 30 years ago, he became a fixture on the local waters as an avid fisherman and crabber. A “Jack-of-all-trades” with a heart of gold, his career was as varied as his stories: he built houses in Japan, worked the rigs, and owned both Bobby’s Costumes and Bob’s Handyman Service.

Behind the jokes was a man who quietly “paid it forward,” never missing a chance to make someone’s day a little easier.

Bob is survived by his father, Laurent Cloutier; his sister, Delores Cloutier; his daughter, Amanda Schroeder, her five children, and his best friend, Gary Burdess. He has now returned to the wilderness he loved so much, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, kindness, and one hell of a story.
