October 13, 1955 - January 27, 2023

Tribute

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of an amazing Dad, Husband, Step-Dad, Son, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin and most importantly Grandpa.

Predeceased by his father Robert Clark (Sylvia), Uncle Pat Maxwell and best friend Robert Skene.

Dad is survived by his mother Clara Clark, the loves of his life, wife Lana Clark and daughters Lindsay Ketch (Roger) and Katie Hui (Gary), stepdaughters Courtney Gilbert (Russell), Madeline Montgomery (Sean) & Lydia Montgomery and his loyal companion Daisy. Dad adored his grandchildren and was very proud of their accomplishments, Makenna, Kaleb, Colby, Cali, Tegan, Carter, Nyomi, Soren and Ronan. His siblings Cindy Dillon (Gord), Gord Clark (Tina), Greg Clark (Deb), Teresa Clark (Rod), Shari Clark (Joe) and Chris Clark as well as many cherished nephews and nieces.

Born in Vancouver, Dad was very active in sports playing in the Big League World Series in Florida representing Canada.  In 1975, Dad left for Regina and completed RCMP Depot Training. His first posting was in Lake Cowichan, then Chemainus, Duncan and Chemainus again.  His career afforded him the opportunities of security detail at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal where he shook the hand of Jesse Owens.  He provided security detail for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in Nanaimo and Victoria during their visit to Vancouver Island in 1983.  A highlight was providing security for Princess Diana and Prince Charles during their visit to Victoria in 1986.  At the 1988 Olympics in Calgary, he met Eddie the Eagle and watched the first ever Jamaican bobsled team.  After 14 years and a pending transfer to Prince Rupert, Dad resigned from the RCMP to stay in the Cowichan Valley where he had started his family.

After a brief position as an ICBC claims adjuster, Dad joined the Municipality of North Cowichan as the Bylaw Enforcement Officer / Local Assistant to the Fire Commissioner / Business License Inspector.  This career lasted 25 years until his retirement in 2016.

Of all the jobs Dad held his most important job for 41 years, one he excelled at, never letting us down and always there for us, was being a Dad to his two girls, he truly was amazing at it.

During retirement (and before) Dad loved being on the course at Duncan Meadows with his best friend Fred Smith, son-in-laws and more importantly the last few years his grandsons – although the rounds usually took a bit longer as they stopped along the way to ball hawk.

Dad loved the Cowboys, Toronto Blue Jays and even those damn Canucks. He loved a meticulous yard and took pride in his lawn. He was the king of Yorkshire puddings and was not afraid to brag about it.

We would like to thank Dr. Phillipson for his years of caring for our Dad, and especially the past three years as well as the exceptional staff at CDH Cancer Clinic.  We would also like to thank Lana for being there for Dad, watching you love and care for him during this battle was nothing short of remarkable and you truly were the rock that held this family together.

If ever more true and something to live by and Dads favorite saying whether he knew it or not “don’t wait, just get ‘er done.”

At Dad’s request, no service will be held.
